Congressman Morgan Luttrell has voted in favor of the Senate Amendment to H.Con.Res. 14, which focuses on the fiscal year 2025 budget framework. This vote, according to the congressman, addresses major national concerns, such as border security, national defense, and economic prospects.

"This budget framework sets the stage for delivering on some of the biggest priorities I hear about from folks back home -- securing the border, unleashing American energy, strengthening our military, and keeping taxes low for working families and small businesses," Luttrell stated. He emphasized the necessity of advancing plans to manage spending and address fiscal issues. "I voted yes because we need to move forward with a plan that gives us the tools to rein in wasteful spending and get our fiscal house in order. The reconciliation instructions included in this resolution lay out a clear path for us to make good on conservative policies, like making the Trump tax cuts permanent, cutting red tape, and keeping our nation secure.”

However, Luttrell expressed concerns about the need for further savings, targeting a more substantial reduction in spending. He noted, “That said, I believe we need to push harder for real, enforceable savings. The House instructions call for $1.5 trillion in spending cuts, while the Senate side has just $4 billion. That’s not going to cut it when we're staring down nearly $35 trillion in debt. I'm going to keep working to make sure the final product reflects real fiscal discipline.”

The resolution sets the budget framework for FY 2025, outlining recommended spending, revenue, and economic measures for the fiscal years 2026 to 2034. It comprises reconciliation instructions for committee actions, aiming to advance central budget proposals that include enhancing border security, promoting energy independence, strengthening national defense, and implementing tax reductions to foster economic growth.
