WASHINGTON – Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX) and Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA) have introduced the Emerging Innovative Border Technologies Act, a bipartisan legislation aimed at enhancing border security operations through the integration of new and advanced technologies.

In a statement, Congressman Luttrell emphasized the importance of staying ahead of evolving threats, stating, "As cartels and foreign adversary operations become more sophisticated amidst the ongoing border crisis, the United States must deploy the latest and most advanced technologies available to our borders to disrupt these threats."

Congressman Correa echoed the sentiment, highlighting the significance of utilizing cutting-edge technology to protect communities from illegal activities. He stated, "Border security means keeping drug and human traffickers away from our communities—and new, bleeding-edge technology that is already available for commercial use would give our hard-working officers the tools they need to keep us safe."

The Emerging Innovative Border Technologies Act will mandate the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop a comprehensive plan for identifying, integrating, and deploying innovative technologies to address capability gaps in border security operations. These technologies may include artificial intelligence, sensors, imaging, and other emerging technologies.

Through this bipartisan effort, Congress aims to equip border officers with the necessary tools to combat threats effectively and respond to challenges such as smuggling and dangerous migrant crossings. The legislation underscores the importance of leveraging technology to enhance border security measures and safeguard the country.

The Emerging Innovative Border Technologies Act has been designed to ensure that DHS leverages the latest advancements in technology to strengthen border security operations. Interested individuals can find more details about the legislation in a write-up from Bloomberg.
