Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX), Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs (DAMA), has put forth a new bill aimed at assisting veterans. The legislation, known as the Veterans Compensation Cost of Living Adjustment Act of 2024, is designed to enhance the support provided to veterans with service-connected disabilities and the survivors of certain veterans.
In a statement, Congressman Luttrell emphasized the importance of aiding those who have served the nation, stating, "We have an obligation to support the veterans who have served and sacrificed for our country." He further explained that the proposed bill aims to ensure that veterans can fulfill their financial requirements, particularly during these challenging times.
The act, if passed, will result in an increase in the rates of compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities, along with the rates of dependency and indemnity compensation for eligible survivors, starting from December 1, 2024. The adjustment in VA benefits is expected to align with the cost-of-living raise provided for specific Social Security benefits.
Expressing his commitment to the welfare of veterans and their families, Congressman Luttrell stated, "I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to improve the lives of veterans and their families."
This legislative proposal underscores Congressman Luttrell's dedication to supporting and enhancing the well-being of those who have bravely served the nation.
