Congressman Morgan Luttrell has introduced the Syria Terrorism Threat Assessment Act, a legislative proposal that mandates the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to assess threats posed by individuals in Syria linked to Foreign Terrorist Organizations or Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organizations. This measure aims to bolster national security by identifying potential risks and enhancing counterterrorism strategies.

The persistent threat from homegrown violent extremism and foreign jihadist networks is underscored as these groups continue efforts to infiltrate the United States. They exploit digital platforms for recruitment, radicalization, and mobilization of individuals both domestically and internationally for terrorist activities.

"The threat of terrorism has not disappeared — it has evolved. Syria has become a hotspot for radical extremists who want to do us harm, and they’re using every tool at their disposal to recruit, radicalize, and send bad actors our way. We can’t sit back and wait for another attack," stated Congressman Luttrell. "The Syria Terrorism Threat Assessment Act ensures DHS does its job to identify threats, close vulnerabilities, and strengthen counterterrorism efforts. Protecting American lives and preventing future attacks must remain our top priority."
