Congressmen Morgan Luttrell and Sylvester Turner have introduced a new bipartisan bill focused on bolstering the United States' cybersecurity workforce. The proposed legislation, known as the DHS Cybersecurity On-The-Job Training Program Act, aims to establish a voluntary training program within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This initiative seeks to provide employees who are not currently in cybersecurity roles with the necessary skills to transition into this field.
The program will be developed and managed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which will appoint a director responsible for designing its curriculum, recruiting participants, and reporting annually to Congress on its progress. The goal is to expand the nation's pool of cybersecurity talent while enhancing national security measures.
"As threats to our cyber infrastructure continue to rise, we need to make sure our federal workforce is ready," said Congressman Luttrell. "Through this legislation, employees will be provided the training they need to step into cybersecurity roles. We’re not just building a stronger workforce — we’re making our nation more secure. I’m proud to work with Congressman Turner on this bipartisan bill to address one of the most critical issues facing our country today."
