Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX) has taken a strong stand against antisemitism within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Luttrell, along with 13 of his colleagues, has written a letter to VA Secretary Dennis McDonough expressing their concerns about disturbing antisemitic comments made by Shakeba Morrad, a United States Attorney at the Office of General Counsel for the VA.

In the letter, the lawmakers request an immediate update on the investigation into Morrad and any disciplinary actions taken. Congressman Luttrell states, "Antisemitism has no place in America, especially within the Department of Veterans Affairs. Vile comments, such as Ms. Morrad's, will not be tolerated, and there must be accountability."

The letter highlights the specific incident involving Morrad, where she shared a video mocking Israeli hostages being held captive by Hamas. The lawmakers express their outrage at Morrad's behavior, stating that it is unacceptable and goes against the core values of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"We require an update on the investigation into Ms. Morrad for her reprehensible behavior and a clear outline of any disciplinary actions already taken no later than December 6, 2023," the letter states.

The letter was signed by Representatives Eli Crane (R-AZ), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Ralph Norman (R-SC), August Pfluger (R-TX), Michael Waltz (R-FL), Cory Mills (R-FL), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Keith Self (R-TX), Randy Weber (R-TX0), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ), Matt Rosendale (R-MT), and Mike Carey (R-OH).

Antisemitism is a serious issue that must be confronted and addressed. Congressman Luttrell and his colleagues are taking a stand against this form of hatred within the Department of Veterans Affairs, emphasizing the need for accountability and the upholding of the Department's core values.

The Department of Veterans Affairs must ensure that individuals who display antisemitic behavior are held responsible for their actions. It is essential to create a workplace environment that is inclusive and free from any form of discrimination.

As this investigation unfolds, it is crucial for Secretary McDonough to provide a prompt and comprehensive update on the actions being taken to address this issue. The American people, especially the veterans who rely on the VA for their care and support, deserve to know that their government is committed to combating antisemitism and fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity.

Antisemitism has no place in our society, and it is heartening to see lawmakers like Congressman Luttrell standing up against it. By condemning all forms of antisemitism, we can strive for a future where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or beliefs.
