WASHINGTON – Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX) expressed his disappointment in the forty-five day stopgap bill voted on in the House of Representatives today. In a statement, he highlighted the absence of crucial border security measures in the bill.
"Yesterday, I voted in favor of the Continuing Appropriations and Border Security Enhancement Act because it was a step in the right direction to get our fiscal house back in order and would have strengthened our border security," said Congressman Luttrell. "While the stopgap bill put forth today fortunately did not include more taxpayer money for Ukraine, it also did not include any border security measures. For that reason, I could not vote to support it. Our border is in crisis and we cannot continue to put our national security in jeopardy. I will continue to work towards solutions to address Washington’s spending problem, lower the national debt, and keep the government working for the People, while also prioritizing the urgent need for border security funding."
Congressman Luttrell's decision to vote against the stopgap bill reflects his commitment to addressing the pressing issue of border security. With the ongoing crisis at the border, he believes it is imperative to prioritize the safety and protection of the nation.
Furthermore, Congressman Luttrell remains determined to find solutions to Washington's spending problem and reduce the national debt. He aims to ensure that the government works effectively for the people, while also securing the necessary funding for border security.
