CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT: Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase Set For Jan. 7-9

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD will host the 18th annual CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase on Jan. 7-9, with the tournament continuing its tradition of inviting many of the state’s best teams to start the season.

The 24-team event will be played in a showcase-style format, with all teams scheduled to play three full-length games.  

Games will be played at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Pridgeon Stadium (11355 Falcon Road). Games will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 and conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 9.

Ten CFISD high schools (Cypress Ridge, Cypress Springs, Cypress Creek, Jersey Village, Cy-Fair, Bridgeland, Langham Creek, Cypress Lakes, Cypress Falls and Cypress Park) will compete in the showcase. The 14 visiting teams are:

·Houston Westside, Spring Branch Memorial, Baytown Sterling, Tomball, Aldine MacArthur, Houston Bellaire, Aldine, Spring Branch Northbrook, Klein Forest, Tomball Memorial, Deer Park, Humble, Houston Wisdom and Aldine Nimitz.

Klein Forest High School will be among 14 visiting teams participating in the CFISD Men’s Varsity Soccer Showcase on Jan. 7-9. Games will be played at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium (8877 Barker Cypress Road) and Pridgeon Stadium (11355 Falcon Road).

In all, two of the UIL’s four regions (II and III) will be represented in the showcase.

“Once again, we are excited to host the top pre-season showcase event in Texas at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium and Pridgeon Stadium,” said Scott Tucker, Langham Creek High School assistant principal and tournament director. “While our objective has always been to provide our participants with the best possible matches to prepare teams in the best possible environments, we were challenged in a different way this year with COVID-19. The collaborative effort of CFISD Athletics, our wonderful coaches and all our participants is to be commended as we head into our 18th year hosting this outstanding event. We are ready to welcome 24 teams who are all expected to be post-season participants once playoffs start.”

Tickets will be sold at the gate for $3 (adults) and $2 (students) apiece. All spectators are required to wear masks and maintain proper social distancing. Spectators at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium are asked to enter through Gate 5, while spectators at Pridgeon Stadium are asked to enter on the home side.
