Conroe ISD approves pay hikes for teachers and support staff

Conroe Independent School District employees will receive a 3% cost of living raise for the upcoming school year.

Trustees approved the pay hike for teachers, librarians, nurses and counselors, who will receive $1,800 over their base pay. Teachers with up to 14 years of experience will garner an additional adjustment ranging from  $100 to $900.

Chief Financial Officer Darren Rice addressed the pay increases for school staff employees.

“We believe this recommendation will keep CISD competitive with peer school districts in the Houston area,” Rice told the Community Impact Newspaper.

The vote also included a number of other pay increases. Administrative education and business employees will get a 2.5% hike for hourly support employees and a 5% increase was approved for bus drivers and police officers.

The pay hikes will up spending for teachers by $7.7 million while non-teacher pay was increased by just under $5 million.
