Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX) introduced the Protecting Military Assets Act of 2024 in the House of Representatives. This legislation follows a breach at a Marine Corps base in Virginia, where two individuals posed as Amazon delivery drivers but failed to provide access credentials and attempted to enter the base. Subsequent investigations revealed that both individuals were in the country illegally, with one reportedly on the terrorist watch list.

The Protecting Military Assets Act aims to ensure that illegal aliens who have been convicted of or committed an offense related to entering military, naval, or coast guard property are deemed inadmissible and deportable. The legislation is cosponsored by Representatives Michael McCaul (R-TX), Jodey Arrington (R-TX), Harriet Hageman (R-WY), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Aaron Bean (R-FL), Jen Kiggans (R-VA), and Nick LaLota (R-NY).

“The recent breach at a Marine Corps base underscores the urgent need for robust measures to safeguard our military installations from threats such as this,” said Congressman Luttrell. “Despite these extremely alarming events becoming more prevalent under President Biden, we cannot become complacent with our national security. This legislation takes an important step to strengthen our defenses and send a clear message that threats to our Armed Forces will not be tolerated.”

As the former Homeland Security Committee chairman, I know how seriously we must take every threat at our border — especially those that approach sensitive facilities like our military bases. Luttrell to mitigate the national security crisis President Biden created and protect those serving in our Armed Forces,” said Congressman McCaul.

“Today, the most imminent security threat to the United States is self-inflicted. President Biden’s refusal to secure our border and enforce the laws of the land have imperiled the safety of our citizens,” said Congressman Arrington. “From our borders to our bases, I’m proud to stand alongside my friend Congressman Luttrell as we fight to protect our citizens and soldiers from the onslaught of criminals and terrorists pouring across our borders. In light of recent concerning incidents, we’re making clear - any alien who breaches a U.S. military base should be deported immediately.”

“Since Joe Biden became President, over 11 million individuals have illegally entered our country. We know at least 350 individuals on the terrorist watch list were stopped at the border and many other illegals entering have criminal records or are unable to be properly vetted. It is vitally important that these individuals do not gain access to our military installations or threaten our national security. Rep. Luttrell’s bill, which I am proud to cosponsor, will ensure that any illegal that breaches our military assets are met with deportation, and that they are inadmissible to the United States in the future,” said Congresswoman Hageman.
