Congressman Morgan Luttrell, along with 23 of his colleagues, has expressed their support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott's efforts to secure the southern border and defend national security. In a letter sent to Governor Abbott, Luttrell and his colleagues commend the Governor for his resolve and encourage him to use all available resources and constitutional authority to enforce border security.

The letter states, "Governor Abbott, we appreciate your resolve at this time and know you will do what is in the best interest of Texas. Please continue to use all the resources and constitutional authority at your disposal to enforce our border security. We will continue to stand with you against this foreign invasion enabled by the Biden Administration."

This show of support comes in the midst of ongoing legal battles between Texas and the federal government regarding border security. In September, Border Patrol agents began removing wire installed by Texas, leading to a lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who claimed that federal agents had unlawfully destroyed state property.

Recently, on January 25, 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that federal border agents can remove razor wire fencing installed by Texas along the Mexico border. This decision overturned a Fifth Circuit order that the Biden Administration argued had resulted in the deaths of several migrants. The ruling allows Border Patrol agents to cut concertina wire that Texas had installed near Eagle Pass while litigation continues.

Governor Abbott has taken a strong stance on border enforcement and has ordered the Texas National Guard to enhance border defenses, including the installation of additional razor wire along key border crossings. He has accused President Biden of violating federal law by failing to enforce immigration statutes and providing "mass parole" to foreign nationals who enter the United States illegally.

The support from Congressman Luttrell and his colleagues highlights the growing concern among lawmakers about the Biden Administration's approach to immigration and border security. Governor Abbott's efforts to uphold border security have found strong backing, and the letter from Luttrell and his colleagues reinforces the unity among Texas Republicans in this fight.

As the debate over immigration and border security continues, it remains to be seen how the Biden Administration will respond to the mounting pressure from lawmakers and states like Texas. For now, Governor Abbott and his supporters, including Congressman Luttrell, remain steadfast in their commitment to defending the southern border and ensuring the safety and security of the American people.
