Halliburton has launched its effort to promote clean energy generation – Halliburton Labs – at its Houston headquarters, promising to create a hub for entrepreneurs, academics, investors and industrial labs to collaborate.
The plan for the facility is for clean tech companies to apply to participate, receiving the opportunity to be advised by industry experts and financing to make their ideas into a reality, according to the Greater Houston Partnership website.
“Halliburton Labs reflects our commitment to the science and continued evolution of sustainable, reliable energy,” Jeff Miller, the chairman, president and CEO of Halliburton, said in the release.
The release states Houston is making an effort to position itself as a “center for energy transition,” and Halliburton Labs is only the latest in a movement toward more clean energy innovation in the city.
“We firmly believe that oil and gas will remain an affordable and reliable energy resource for decades to come. At the same time, we recognize the importance of developing alternative energy sources,” Miller said. “We are excited to help advance solutions that have the potential for a long term, meaningful impact and that align well with our sustainability objectives.”
