Companies in the New Braunfels area are experiencing devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Herald-Zeitung.
One drywall contractor told the publication that he’s convinced the possibility of a financial decline is what’s causing shoppers and consumers to be extra careful when spending money.
“I’m worried. Everybody is, because we really don’t know that much about this virus," he told the Herald-Zeitung. "Then there’s the thing about how we have a man in the county diagnosed and this community spread they’re talking about.”
While fear is a go-to emotion for some, money pros have said that it might be a while before the state experiences the full financial effect of COVID-19. Major industries have taken a dive, including gas prices and oil, the prominent in the Lone Star State.
Events like The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo have been put canceled, also impacting the economy.
As of April 1, Texas reported 4,997 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including 58 deaths. McLennan County has 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
