Pete Sessions, U.S. Representative for Texas’s 17th congressional district, shared several updates on his official Twitter account between December 9 and December 10, 2025. The posts ranged from a tribute to a longtime friend and businessman to commentary on legislative efforts supporting local innovation.

On December 9, Sessions publicly mourned the loss of Tom Hicks, stating, “ICYMI: I join many Texans and Americans in mourning the passing of my friend of more than thirty years, Tom Hicks. Tom was a visionary businessman who honorably served our country as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Reserves and as a Commissioner of the American Battle Monuments”.

Later that day, Sessions highlighted legislative action aimed at fostering innovation outside traditional tech hubs. He wrote on December 9, “Heartland innovators, especially in TX-17, deserve the same shot as startups on the coasts.

The bipartisan INVEST Act makes that possible. It keeps talent and innovation rooted where they belong: in the hometown economies that power America.”

On December 10, Sessions invited followers to watch his appearance on national television: “Join me on @NewsNation with @ChrisCuomo!”

Pete Sessions has represented Texas’s 17th congressional district since winning election in 2020 against Rick Kennedy with approximately 56% of the vote. He continued to secure his seat by defeating Mary Jo Woods in 2022 with about two-thirds of votes cast and Mark Lorenzen in 2024 by a similar margin.
