Pete Sessions, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 17th congressional district, marked the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps and honored veterans through a series of posts on his official X account on November 10 and 11, 2025.
On November 10, Sessions acknowledged the Marine Corps’ milestone by stating, “Happy 250th Birthday to the @USMC! For 250 years, the Few and the Proud have defended liberty with courage and sacrifice. Thank you to all Marines for your service.”
Later that day, he highlighted local recognition efforts in East Texas: “Enjoyed time this weekend in Huntington and Huntsville to celebrate our Deep East Texas and East Texas recipients of the Congressional Veteran Commendation. This award honors veterans who have gone beyond the call of duty by continuing in service in our community. Congratulations”
On Veterans Day, November 11, Sessions expressed gratitude to all veterans: “Today, we recognize the sacrifices and selflessness of our nation’s veterans. Our freedoms endure because of their courage and commitment to defend them. To every man and woman who has worn the uniform, thank you for your service and dedication to our country.”
Sessions has held his seat since winning elections against Mark Lorenzen in 2024 by a margin of more than thirty percentage points (66.3% to 33.7%), Mary Jo Woods in 2022 with a similar margin (66.5% to 33.5%), and Rick Kennedy in 2020 (55.9% to 40.9%). The Congressional Veteran Commendation referenced by Sessions is awarded annually to recognize veterans who continue serving their communities after their military careers.
