Pete Sessions, U.S. Congressman for Texas’s 17th district, recently used his social media platform to share updates on local infrastructure funding, drug policy advocacy, and aerospace industry developments.
On August 28, 2025, Sessions announced federal support for municipal water infrastructure in Huntsville, Texas. He stated, “Yesterday, I was proud to announce that the EPA is awarding $1 million to the City of @HuntsvilleTexas for critical Wastewater Treatment Plant rehabilitation. This investment will expand water capacity to support Huntsville’s growing population while protecting water quality in” (August 28, 2025).
Later that day, Sessions addressed federal drug policy by urging action from the Department of Justice regarding marijuana rescheduling. He wrote, “I sent @AGPamBondi a letter urging DOJ to reject marijuana rescheduling. The data is clear: marijuana is a dangerous drug that has only become more dangerous over time. We must protect our children from predatory marijuana businesses that want to make them addicted consumers for” (August 28, 2025).
On August 29, 2025, Sessions highlighted his participation in an event with L3Harris Technologies in Waco. He posted, “This week in Waco, I joined L3Harris Technologies to celebrate the opening of their production facility for the U.S. Air Force OA-1K Skyraider II.
A strong partner to the City of Waco, L3Harris has chosen this location as the hub for this next-generation aircraft. This” (August 29, 2025).
Sessions has maintained a strong electoral record in recent years. In the 2024 general election he defeated Mark Lorenzen with over 66% of the vote; similar margins were seen against Mary Jo Woods in 2022 and Rick Kennedy in 2020.
