Congressman Pete Sessions announced $750,000 in federal funding for Pflugerville’s Pump Station and Storage Tank Project during a press conference with Mayor Doug Weiss. The funds are aimed at upgrading the city’s water infrastructure to support both current demands and future growth.
The allocation was part of H.R. 6938, which covers several appropriations including Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment for Fiscal Year 2026. The legislation was signed into law by the President on January 23, 2026.
The investment is expected to modernize Pflugerville’s water system, enhance reliability, and help the city continue to meet the needs of residents and businesses as it expands. Congressman Sessions emphasized that federal appropriations should prioritize projects that have a clear local impact.
At the press conference, Mayor Doug Weiss stated: “This investment ensures that our infrastructure keeps pace with growth and that our community continues to receive safe, reliable water service. Congressman Sessions, thank you again for your partnership, your commitment to our city, and your continued support of the communities you serve.”
Congressman Sessions added: “I am proud to have secured this funding for Pflugerville and for the people of Texas’ 17th Congressional District. Announcing this investment today with Mayor Weiss underscores our shared commitment to strengthening local infrastructure and ensuring our community is prepared for the future.”
Sessions has represented Texas’s 17th Congressional District since replacing Bill Flores in 2021. He currently lives in Waco, Texas. Over recent election cycles, he has maintained strong support in his district—defeating Mark Lorenzen in 2024 with about two-thirds of the vote, Mary Jo Woods in 2022 by a similar margin, and Rick Kennedy in 2020.
The announcement highlights Sessions’ ongoing efforts to address district priorities through federal appropriations while working closely with local leaders.
